I am honored to be considered among the theological pantheon of Jim Skerl, Mike Pennock, and Tom Healy. Praise indeed. Of course, the secret was we had great students like you.
I wish I had your writing ability! This story has always been a tough one for me, as I’ve always related to the “good” son and could empathize with his frustration. Our priest went into that in his last sermon, which explained the whole story well, as did you. Holding onto anger and resentment only impacts those who feel that emotion, but rarely the one it is directed towards. Have a great break!
Timely indeed Thomas! I have not read but plan to this week. Thanks for the impromptu gift to myself for buying me something that will allow myself to forgive myself. I’ll start with this confusing post I just wrote. Merry Christmas buddy.
I find forgiving myself hardest but once I can manage, then for whatever external sources of resentment exist, I can begin to evolve towards understanding and pity, allowing forgiveness.
We don’t have enough time here to spend it angry!!! So don’t forget to slop on 2nd helpings of LOVE AND JOY to your friends and families plates this holiday y’all. And to those of us people-pleasers, lets please not forget how important it is to fill our up own plates too with this nourishment!!! Happy Holidays!!!
Beautifully said Ed! Merry Christmas!!!!!
Here’s to forgiving, happiness, Martin’s cookies and a Merry Christmas!
